The Four Myths

Event Venue: Virtual via Zoom

The Sustainable Housing Foundation is inviting builders to take part in exploring the myths of the residential construction industry. At the heart of this discussion is the common myths about energy efficiency and production and the need to clarify these misconceptions if we are to move the sustainability conversation forward. Join us as our board members will talk for 10 minutes each on a particular myth and were hoping to have a lively discussion to follow.

The first myth that we would like to debunk is that large scale solar generation is viable. Christian Rinomato will talk about the community challenges and capacity challenges of hooking solar up to grid as the utilities do not allow connection or net metering. The second myth is that short term electrification can solve our emissions from buildings.  Jiri Skopek will discuss from his own personal experiences the challenges of doing this. The third myth, is a major myth that will be handed by Michael Lio and Paul De Berardis. It is the implementation of the National Building Code – provincial disparity and fairness.  Our fourth myth is that of balanced ventilation in Ontario houses. Sonny Pirotta will explain the myth of self balancing air exchangers and the best practice to manually balance air exchangers.

Please join our webinar via zoom on May 21st 2025 from 10:30am to 12:00pm.
